Working with NJE connections

Each connection enables a Barr NJE node to connect to a host NJE node. Use the following methods to maintain NJE connections.

You must be a member of the local Administrators group to operate the NJE Configuration Utility. If you are assigned the Configure - NJE user access right on the computer to which you are trying to connect, but are not a member of the Administrators group, the NJE Configuration Utility will operate in read-only mode.

Defining a connection

  1. Open the NJE Configuration Utility.

  2. Select the Communications Profile tab.

  3. Under Connection, click Add.

  4. In the Name box, type the new connection name.

  5. In the Type drop-down list, select Barr SNA, or SNA (SNA Server/HIS).

  6. Click OK. The Barr SNA Configuration dialog box or SNA Configuration dialog box displays, depending on your connection type.

  7. Next to NJE Configuration, click Modify. The NJE Configuration dialog box displays.

  8. Configure your options. For help with configuring your NJE options, refer to the Configuring BARR/NJE for Barr SNA, or Configuring BARR/NJE for SNA topics, depending on your connection type.

  1. Click OK to return to the Communications Profile tab.

Modifying a connection

  1. Open the NJE Configuration Utility.

  2. Select the Communications Profile tab.

  3. Select the connection name in the Name drop-down list and click Modify. The Connection Configuration dialog box displays.

  1. Next to Barr SNA Configuration or SNA Configuration, depending on your connection type, click Modify. The Barr SNA Configuration dialog box or SNA Configuration dialog box displays.

  2. Modify your options.

  1. Next to NJE Configuration, click Modify. The NJE Configuration dialog box displays.

  2. Modify your options.

  1. Click OK to return to the Communications Profile tab.

Deleting a connection

  1. Open the NJE Configuration Utility.

  2. Select the Communications Profile tab.

  3. In the Name drop-down list, select your connection.

  4. Under Connection, click Remove.
