Barr SNA Configuration dialog box

NJE Configuration Utility

Use this dialog box to configure your Barr SNA connection. You can access this dialog box when you add or modify an NJE connection from the Communications Profile tab. From the Connection Configuration dialog box, next to Barr SNA Configuration, click Modify to view this dialog box.

Link service

Lists defined link services. Allows you to add, modify, or remove a link service.

Name

Displays the list of defined link services. Select a link service from the drop-down list or click Add to add a new link service.

Add button

Adds a new link service using the Select Link Service Type dialog box. Select the type of link service you want to add. Once your link type has been selected, another configuration dialog box displays where you can configure the selected link type. The available link types are 802.2 LLC2, HPR/IP (Enterprise Extender), and SDLC. The default link type is 802.2 LLC2.

Modify button

Displays the properties of the selected link for viewing or modification. The Link tab for 802.2, Link tab for HPR/IP, or the Link tab for SDLC displays, depending on the link type selected.

Remove button

Removes the selected link.

Connection

Displays the connection type for the selected link. There are three possible connection types.

802.2 LLC2 – The 802.2 LLC2 connection provides an SNA Device Interface Specification (SNADIS) front end In client/server applications, the client part of the program is often called the front end and the server part is called the back end. For software programs, front end is the same as user interface. to the Windows DLC Acronym for Data Link Control. Click Configure to open the 802.2 Connection Configuration dialog box.

HPR/IP – The HPR/IP connection uses your network adapter to communicate with the mainframe over an IP network. Click Configure to open the HPR/IP Connection Configuration dialog box.

SDLC – The SDLC connection uses SDLC Acronym for Synchronous Data Link Control. A low-level communications protocol for synchronous communications. to send and receive frames of data. Click Configure to open the SDLC Connection Configuration dialog box.

Configure button

Configures the connection. Depending on your connection type, the 802.2 Connection Configuration dialog box, HPR/IP Connection Configuration dialog box, or SDLC Connection Configuration dialog box displays.

NJE logical unit

The NJE client needs the SNA logical unit (LU) name and number to contact and communicate with your host system. You can get this information from your host programmer.

Name

Enter the SNA LU name. The default is BAR1NJE2.

Number

Enter the LU number as a decimal. The default is 2.
